Our Facility and History

A Time to Grow Preschool has been a part of the Chili Community for over 40 years! We are located in the very heart of Chili in the First Baptist Church of Chili on 3182 Chili Avenue. Our space is comprised of four large classrooms in our own wing with a separate entrance and dedicated bathroom facilities. As well as our spacious classrooms, we have daily access to a large gym area in order to fully meet our students large motor skills needs.

Although we have a long history, our curriculum is reviewed yearly and updated to meet the changing standards and and expectations of kindergarten students. The core philosophy that we have adhered to throughout the years is that children learn through play. The evidence keeps mounting that preschool play is the best way for children to learn and thrive.

Importance of a Program balanced with Play

Numerous studies confirm children learn through play, active and engaging play experiences are crucial for developing physical, social-emotional, cognitive, and language skills. Play allows children to develop executive functions like impulse control, fosters neural connections in the brain linked to emotional regulation, and provides a positive context for stress reduction. Play-based learning has been shown to be as effective as, if not more effective than, traditional instruction in developing skills essential for success in the 21st century.

Academics & Structure

Academics are an important part of our “whole child” curriculum. Students learn writing, prereading skills and age appropriate math and pre-math skills. Children enjoy circle time, structured activities and table time work. Students explore themed concepts weekly and Pre-K students concentrate on the “Letter of the Week” These important skills are part of preparing your child for kindergarten while balancing structured and quiet activities with play and large motor skill time.

Balance and age appropriateness are the cornerstone of an effective preschool program. Rigorous academically saturated programs have proven to be stressful and non productive for preschool aged students. Our curriculum takes the balance of social and emotional aspects of preschoolers into consideration creating a social capable child instilled with eagerness and a love for learning!
